Find Help, Find Hope!

Saks Institute Spring Symposium April 16

The topic will be on Involuntary Commitment with guest speaker Dr. Elinore McCance-Katz, the Assistant Secretary of Mental Health and Substance Use, who reports directly to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, (which is a vacant seat at this time), and who also now heads Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA, appointed last year from the passage of HR 2646 in HR 34 Div II).

Note:  Elyn Saks is the Orrin B. Evans Professor of Law, Psychology, and Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at USC.

She is someone living with severe mental illness, author of “The Center Cannot Hold” a biographical account of her life’s journey with Schizophrenia. Her remarkable recovery from severe disability to becoming a Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at a prominent university has justifiably given her celebrity status.
