Speaker Program: In Our Own Voice (IOOV)- various locations throughout the year.

In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a unique public education program developed by NAMI, in which two trained consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. Participants gain a better understanding of what it is like to live with mental illness and stay in recovery. NAMI In Our Own Voice can change attitudes, preconceived notions and stereotypes regarding mental illness.

To book an IOOV program for your event, business, community organization, or other group, please fill in the online IOOV request form. Please, make your request at least two weeks in advance of the date you would like a presentation.  To contact the IOOV Coordinator, Sally Sagario, call her at 1-949-274-9728, or send an email to

Presentation for School Communities: NAMI Ending the Silence

50-minute presentation designed for middle and high school students that includes warning signs, facts and statistics and how to get help for themselves or a friend. These presentations include a lead presenter who shares an informative presentation and a young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey of recovery. Audience members can ask questions and gain understanding of an often-misunderstood topic. Through dialogue, we can help grow the movement to end stigma. Research has shown that NAMI Ending the Silence for Students is effective in changing middle and high school students’ knowledge and attitudes toward mental health conditions and toward seeking help.
